Metro Atlanta is bracing for a winter storm watch, with heavy snow possible this weekend. The National Weather Service has expanded the watch to cover over 50 counties, including Atlanta and its surrounding areas. The watch is in effect from Friday evening through Sunday morning, with up to three inches of snow and wind gusts of up to 35 mph possible. Atlanta is expected to receive 1.2 inches of snow, with a small chance of up to 2 inches. The storm could make roads and bridges hazardous, so drivers are advised to consider delaying travel. Bitterly cold temperatures are also expected, with a high of 29 degrees on Saturday and a low of 15 degrees. An extreme cold watch will be in effect for all of Georgia on Saturday night and Sunday, with a wind chill that could drop below zero. This will be the second weekend in a row for winter weather in Georgia, following an ice storm that caused widespread power outages and flight cancellations last weekend. Governor Brian Kemp has urged Georgians to remain weather-aware and stay tuned for updates.
