However, the heatwave has also sparked a fire weather warning for the Midwest, with hot and dry conditions and northeasterly winds driving extreme fire danger. People in Perth may have narrowly avoided severe heatwave and fire warnings, but weather experts warn that the metropolitan area is still in for a sweltering few days. The Bureau of Meteorology encourages residents to seek cool places and minimize heat exposure. Pet owners are urged to take extra care of their animals, as extreme temperatures can be fatal. The RSPCA WA has already received numerous reports of dogs left in hot cars this summer, and the organization is urging people to report any instances of animal cruelty.
